Cultural Education
Dance and music invite us beyond verbal language, into a place where expression, spirit and emotion, communicate in ways that connect straight to the heart. This is one of the qualities I find so potent about all art, but for me, especially dance and music. And I know I am not alone.
Dance and music can dissolve barriers, create unexpected relationships, and remind us of our shared humanity. And this is why I find dance and music such a powerful gateway for cultural education, healing, social justice and the sharing of histories that have not been honestly and transparently told.
I have a deep passion for helping to facilitate bringing music and dance artists into schools. Please don’t hesitate to inquire, if you would like to know more about the cultural education work I have done on Martha’s Vineyard, or are looking for a facilitator to help bring cultural education through music and dance into your school.
*The Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School and I, had the good fortune of bringing amazing Senegalese drummer Aba Diop and dancer Bakary Fall, to MYPCS and to the island community. Aba and Bakary made an unforgettable and profound impact on all who received their teachings, and attended their performances.
