My Story
I was born in the United States into a lineage of Spanish gypsy flamenco artists on my father’s side, and a devotion to the healing arts by way of my mother’s 40+ year professional practice of Polarity Therapy.
I left my home on Martha’s Vineyard at the tender age of 13, to attend Professional Children’s high school in New York City to pursue my dream of being a dancer. I received my BA in modern dance from Bennington College in Vermont, in addition to several years of learning, performing and teaching social dance forms rooted in the African Diaspora. Particularly from the US(hip hop) and Cuba(casino). As well as exploring improvisation as a performance medium, and the fusion of modern and contemporary dance, with African rooted dance forms.
Parallel to my journey with dance, I also became a student and patient of Eastern and Western based healing art forms like Polarity Therapy, Acupuncture, Authentic Movement, Bio-energetics, Cranial Sacral Therapy, 5 Rhythms Movement Meditation, Osho Humaniversity AUM, Yoga asana and Pilates. All which have been significant influences on developing my embodied movement & fitness practices. I received my bodywork and yoga teacher certification’s from Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, Massachusetts.
My life long love affair and steadfast devotion for movement, dance, healing and cultural education, has been one of the most grounding, joyful, spiritual and meaningful relationships in my life. These profound body-mind-spirit practices, expressions, resources for being alive on this planet in a human body, is what drives my desire to share with people what I have learned along the way. To support people in creating space and time to listen, express, and deeply appreciate their body and being. Honoring one’s unique embodied wisdom, as well as movement and dance wisdom from established lineages and cultures. Sharing my passion for creating opportunities for healing, joy, freedom and deep resounding peace.
